The month of June is about to end and the weather here in Qatar is getting hotter and more humid. It is officially summer here. Qatar is a beautiful and peaceful country to live in except for the scorching days during summer. Hot days like this restrict us from doing outdoor activities like walking and playing in the park (if you have kids), biking, or simply showering energy from the sun. As a stay-at-home expatriate mother in Qatar, staying indoors the entire day increases my feelings of loneliness, sadness, and isolation. It can even be depressing sometimes.

To save myself from unpleasant emotions, I do mindfulness exercises such as reciting good-energy giving (or positive) affirmations, meditation, and yoga. They helped me to strengthen my control over my thoughts. Reciting positive affirmations, out loud or internalizing them in your head, is a good practice to strengthen mind control that determines your responses to situations.

I created 60 Powerful Positive Affirmations that you can choose from especially when you are having a low or tough day. (But really, these affirmations work to any kind of day.) Let your instinct guide you in choosing the right words for you. Incorporate positive affirmations into your life as often as you can. Make it a habit. You will see how words create power in your mind and your life.

Pre-exercise requirement: Do three mindful deep breaths. Recollect your attention at the center of your forehead. Do this before reciting or internalizing the affirmations that suit your situation.

Before starting your day, whether you go to work or run a household, say positive affirmations that you need for the day. At the start, you may find them with little or no effect, but through repetition, you will experience their positive effects.

  1. The universe is for me, helping me. I got this day.
  2. My mind, heart, and body are stronger than my fears and worries.
  3. I am grateful for a new day to work on my problems.

  15. I am not alone. The Universe is with me.
  16. I am thankful for what I have and don’t have.

  18. Change is beautiful. It makes me more brave and resilient.
  19. I let go of the thoughts that are not serving me well anymore.
  20. My life is not perfect but it is beautiful.

The day gets tougher as we set ourselves out, and engage with people whose personalities and ways of thinking are out of our control. Add to it the situations that may trigger patience, anxiety, and discomfort. It may be hard to focus on doing your affirmations in the middle of a busy day, but when you learn to incorporate this habit into your life you will be able to navigate your thoughts and responses better.

  1. I let go of the things I cannot control.
  2. Life may be tiring and tough but I am stronger.
  3. I care for my well-being more than what other people say about me.
  4. I am not in competition with anyone.
  5. I acknowledge that I have ego but I have the power to tame it.
  6. I breathe in peace in my heart and breathe out all the pressures of the world.
  7. My life is more than my job and the money I make.
  8. I am grateful for the people who support and help me.
  9. My situation is teaching me valuable lessons and wisdom.
  10. Sufferings are character shapers, not punishments.
  11. I have passed through many storms in my life and will always do.
  12. There is growth in my pain.
  13. At the right time, my heart will heal and forgive.
  14. I allow help and miracles in my situation.
  15. I need rest and am not guilty about it.
  16. I cannot change other people. I can only control my response to them.
  17. I don’t let negative people penetrate my mind, body, and spirit.
  18. Everything will be alright.
  19. I do not blame myself anymore for the mishaps that I did not wish for.
  20. Everything is temporary. This too shall pass.

One of the most important thoughts of the day is thoughts a few hours before you sleep because they penetrate through your subconscious mind deeper. You may even bring these thoughts into your dreams. Managing your thoughts through internalizing positive affirmations before going to sleep helps to ease your anxiety and stress from a tough or low day.

  1. I am thankful for the support I received today.
  2. Beautiful things take time.
  3. The universe recognizes my hard work and sacrifice.
  4. I surrender the things I cannot control.
  5. I am content with the things I have.
  6. I am enough.
  7. I have enough.
  8. I live for today. Tomorrow is another day.
  9. I am a survivor.
  10. I cannot underestimate my strength.
  11. Discomforts make me wiser and stronger.
  12. I choose loving people in my life.
  13. It is okay to protect myself from toxic people.
  14. Sleep refreshes my body and soul.
  15. Fears and worries will not help my life become better.
  16. My mind needs rest too.
  17. Toxic people are people in pain.
  18. I am guided and safe.
  19. Good things are on my way.
  20. The universe cleans my energy in my sleep.

Most of the sufferings we experience begin with thoughts that we cannot manage. Life is not always a bed of roses. It is a combination of ups and downs. You may not have control over the things outside yourself, but you can always choose what to entertain in your head. By using positive affirmations regularly, you can reprogram your mind from being negative to a positive thinker. Positive thoughts may not completely change your situation in an instant but they ease fears and lighten burdens which leads to a calmer and joyful life.

Another powerful way to optimize the power of positive affirmations is to write them down. I encourage you to start a Write To Heal Diary and write the affirmations that serve you well. You can even create your own. Check out my Write To Heal Diary guide here. (It’s FREE.) I hope that these positive affirmations I curated may serve you the way you need them. Let me know what are your favorites and share them in the comments. I’d love to hear what works for you well. I appreciate your dropping by at Shifting Psyche. 🙂
